my writing, photography and the occasional handicraft

We took the kids to a place called “Family Fun Center” for my son’s ninth birthday. They had a great time. It was a tough assignment for my little camera, which doesn’t have a lens that lends itself toward capturing motion all that well. Did my best, and with a lot of cropping in Photoshop, I think a fun narrative develops here.

My step-daughter talked her dad into this ridiculous “extreme” swing ride. I could only capture them as they came back down, but I think the progression of expressions is priceless. Sorry for the blur: these are blown up to nearly 100%!

All began well with a sweet daddy-daughter moment…

If that’s not a forced smile on his face, I don’t know my man.

She’s no longer so confident, but he’s stoic. That’s what you get from a Kung Fu master.

Her plan has achieved fruition! I asked him how it was afterward and he whispered: “Horrible.”

Next, she talked my son into it. Note how calm she looks.

G-Force just aged him from nine to thirty in a single day!

Inside, it’s game time!

That look of concentration is about to pay off…

Jackpot! But she’s way too cool for that to be exciting…

The frantic search for more tokens…

Tickets AND candy. She spent the entire afternoon at this one.
